Munich International Trade Fairs is responding to
fundamental change in the ICT industry by replacing SYSTEMS, which was founded
in 1969, with a completely
new event format beginning in October 2009. The new
event will have a business-to-business character and address decision-makers in
companies of all sizes, giving the ICT industry an international and modern
communications, sales and marketing platform.
The decision to launch a new event in 2009 was based
on fundamental changes in the ICT industry's needs. The Internet and other
information and communications technologies have become so important in the global
business community that they have become a central component and a key factor
of success in commercial business strategies. Gone are the days when suppliers
and users, manufacturers and customers only got excited about new products and
features, like they did in the early days of the industry. Instead, what the
industry needs now and in the future are optimum business strategies. A conventional
exhibition that revolves around the presentation of exhibits no longer does
this situation justice.
Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Munich
International Trade Fairs, explains: "With 1,061 exhibitors and having received top marks from all market
players, SYSTEMS remains the leading business-to-business exhibition for the
ICT sector after nearly 40 years. It is in a strong position as it bids the
industry farewell. During the past few years, it has increasingly developed
into a popular venue for company events, conventions, conferences and road
shows. In fact, for the first time in the history of the ICT exhibition, our
conference center – the ICM – was completely booked to capacity. Still, we have
decided to take into account fundamental changes in one of the most important
industries of the future and to give the market an event that is completely
new, flexible and innovative. We are convinced that the new live events will
provide outstanding utility to suppliers and users alike and hope that a large
share of our exhibitors will join us on this journey." The detailed concept of the new event, which will
celebrate its premiere in
October 2009,
will be announced to you, your customers and the general public before
the end
of this year. We hope that you are excited about the upcoming event and
that
you will take advantage of the opportunity to present your company and
your
expertise – with flexibility, competence, emotion and more
success than ever. We would be pleased to provide you with additional
information.
